Dyslexia was once seen as a learning disability suffered by unintelligent students.

However, there is now a growing pool of research that shows dyslexia is actually a learning difference.

Dyslexics also have a higher tendency to be of above-average intelligence.

Whilst it’s true that some dyslexics struggle with their reading, spelling and writing — me included!

For some, there can be additional issues with processing new information and working memory.

Others may have a cluster of other neurodivergent disorders such as Autism, Dyscalculia, which makes mathematics difficult for some.

My dyslexia is grouped with ADHD (confirmed) and possible dyspraxia (unconfirmed, but it has been discussed with me).

As dyslexics, we are often visual thinkers. It takes longer for our brains to create the images we see in our mind's eye.

Translating between words and these pictures means that sometimes we might get stuck on finding the right words to explain what we are seeing or get a little ‘lost’…
