Sleep is one of the most important things that you can do for yourself. Not only does it help you recover from physical activity, but it also helps to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve your memory and cognitive functioning.

Whilst you sleep you brain basically clears out all the ‘shite’ that has been built up during the day! Then reorganises all of your experiences. Keeping the information it deems to be important and shredding the information you don’t require. If your not sleeping then the brain isn’t able to get all this vital work done!

In addition to all those benefits, falling asleep within 10 minutes has been shown to improve your overall health. It reduces inflammation levels in your body by decreasing blood flow through vessels that would otherwise be constricted due to prolonged periods without sleep.

As someone with ADHD I can suffer from insomnia. After a decade of studying psychology related subjects at college and university, I realised my mother knew best all along. So, here is my Mother’s guide to falling asleep within 10 minutes…
